A few years ago our deer hunting group had a very productive hunt. We cleaned nine deer in two days. The moniker "Team Slaughterhouse" was coined and the logo soon followed. When a horrible fire destroyed the barn on the family farm, we no longer had a place to clean our gamebirds, waterfowl and deer. Our first thought was to build a slaughterhouse; then we decided to add a living quarters too. Ninety-five percent of the work was done by us, our families and a few friends who volunteered countless hours, days and weekends to pull this together in less than four months. Now we have the perfect camp to hangout and train in the summer, go 4-wheeling, hunt in the fall and just get away from the rat race.
This fall will be our first hunting season there and we can't wait to share it with the friends we've made in the dog world. Most importantly, we look forward to spend more time with our families!
Our home away from home.
And a complete kitchen to prepare the game species of the day.
We know....it's no "ordinary" slaughterhouse but when have we ever done anything less than 100%. Check out the big stainless table---we can fit four deer carcasses on it at once.
We have everything we need to clean our game and make sausage--including a TV.
Preparing for our first batch of sausage in the new digs.
Mixing the "secret family recipe."
Stuffing bulk sausage.
Stuffing ring sausage.
The assembly line to package the smoked ring sausage.
Ahhhh....what we've been waiting for all along!
