One could argue there are two approaches to car racing. One is to peel off the starting line and spend the entire race at 100% throttle and risk flinging your car into the walls. The other strategy is to stay on the gas within reason and watch for opportunities to overtake your competitors while preserving your car and resources to make sure you make it to the finish line.
The latter is our little Dani…smart, measured, calm and focused. She’s not the crazy show-stopper who takes huge independent casts in the field or disappears for 45 minutes in the marsh. Instead, she’s the kind of dog 90% of the world wants. The kind that checks back while she’s doing the job at hand and tries to figure out what YOU want so that she does it right.
Dani’s from the pairing between INT CH, VC Sharp Shooters Hot Rod, MH and INT CH, VC Sharp Shooters Fast as You. It’s a breeding we repeated three times because we loved what it gave us; dogs who easily adapt to different types of cover, dogs who back and retrieve naturally and are companions who excel at teamwork.
That doesn’t mean Dani isn’t strong-willed enough to get the job done when times are tough. When birds are few in number she keeps searching in the hope she’ll eventually come across a rooster or a sharptail. She’s broken ice on frigid days to retrieve downed ducks, has learned to pace herself on hot, humid days and maintains an easy medium range making for quiet and enjoyable hunts. In just three short seasons, she’s turned into one heck of a little hunting dog.
Dani isn’t wired to win a high stakes field trial, but she’ll always cross the finish line and won’t spin out or crash into the walls in the process.
